Your Book Is Your Dna!

Words are living things! Books are living organisms! Your book with the marriage and intercourse of your words provides the DNA of your book. In essence, your book is all YOU! Your book IS a living organism! Think about it. Your book, and it’s words may survive you even after death by leaving the legacy of your existence.
I say ‘may’ survive you because some books are marked for ‘Failure To Thrive.’
If you as the creator of your book stop your active involvement to insure that the world knows of your contribution you are essentially setting up your book/baby for ‘Failure To Thrive.’ Many of you would never actively allow this to happen! So, think about it, are you doing anything and everything to ensure your baby’s survival? You are in every sense your book’s PARENT (even those of you who have no children, this is what parenting is about!)
This truism and analogy drives me in my marketing efforts. Your book’s conception (writing) and birth (publication) cannot and should not mark the end of your involvement and/or participation in your book/baby’s life or viability.
Honestly, I wake up everyday, thinking what does my book need for nourishment today? What can I do to ensure that my book is healthy: growing (exposure), and getting the nourishment (marketing & promotion) from me that it needs that day. Thinking of my book, my baby, in these terms is the catalyst for me to be more proactive in my book’s life!
Write more ezine articles! Blog about your book! Carry your books picture (postcard, book cover, promotion material, etc) everywhere to show it off to others! Talk about your book in glowing terms always! I investigated ‘Contact Any Celebrity’ the website to determine what celebrity will endorse my book. The author Seth Godin talks about ’sneezers’ who are people who through word of mouth speak well about your book and thus increase it’s exposure and popularity (Seth Godin’s books are incredible resources by the way and necessary reads!)
Malcolm Gladwell, in his book, ‘The Tipping Point’ speaks of pollinators (like sneezers) These are people whose ‘little’ actions change the world, the culture and make a difference. Create an epidemic with your book!
Your book is personal whether it is a economics book, a statistics book, a fiction book, romance book or whatever. It is your child, your DNA, your living organism! Let the world know, by “any means necessary” what a beautiful baby you have!
